Jessy's latest visit

Hi everyone -

Jessy came to stay with us last month.  She was here for ten days and we had a lot of fun together.  But the first day Jessy decided to run around the neighborhood which made Mama really upset.  It took her a half an hour to get her back to the house.

But after that she calmed down and got used to our routine.  She loves looking out the windows in the house.  Jessy and I played a lot together too.   Here is a video of us playing together and a picture of her looking out the window:

Enjoy the video, everyone!

Jessy will be visiting us again

Hi, everyone -

Jessy is going to visiting with us again in about two weeks.  Her pawrents are going to Florida and they are driving a car back here.  We hope all of you had a Happy Easter.  Here are some pictures.  They were made for us by one of our Dogster pup pals,  Aregon Spunky and Casper.  They also started a blog which hasn't been up very long.  Here are some pictures:

In the meantime, if anyone is interested in making holistic treats for their pets here is a recipe that Mama got from a friend.  She has not tried making these yet but thought she would share the recipe with anyone who is.  Sorry for the different font.  Mama just copied and pasted this to the post.  Here is the recipe:

These basic biscuits can be customized to cater to your canine’s palette
Ingredients
• 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour (substitute regular flour or oats if your dog is sensitive to wheat)
• 1 tsp. salt (or less)
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp. Beef or chicken Bouillon granules (can substitute beef or chicken broth/stock)
• ½ cup hot water
Optional Add ins
• Bacon or chicken broth, eggs, oats, liver powder, wheat germ or the other supplements discussed, shredded cheese, bacon bits, fresh herbs, dehydrated bits of apple, banana or blueberry all unsweetened, etc.,.
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Dissolve bouillon in hot water
3. Add remaining ingredients
4. Knead dough until it forms a ball (approximately 3 minutes)
5. Roll dough until ½ inch thick
6. Cut into slices or bone shapes (you can purchase a bone shaped cookie cutter to make shapes with)
7. Place dough pieces on lightly greased cookie sheet
8. Cook for 30 minutes but check mid-way through as my oven is old and times may vary!

A "wild" assortment of newer pictures

Hi, everyone -

Sorry we have been a little behind in blogging.  Things have been crazy around here lately.  Here are some of the latest things Kaci and I have done:

First of all, as some of you may know there is a new four legged member in my (Hershey's) family.  My "aunt" and "uncle" got a puppy last summer.  Her name is Jessy and she is extremely energetic.  She is not even a year old and has made life very interesting for her pawrents.

Recently, Grammy celebrated her birthday.  Mama being the tactful person she is does not want to disclose her age.  She will only say that Grammy is in her mid 80's.

The last and really wild thing happened in my back yard.  During a recent snowstorm in February (which was  not a fun one because we had both rain and snow) one of the trees in our next door neighbor's yard uprooted itself and landed partially on the roof of the back of their house.  Papa decided to move our car further back in the driveway because he was pretty nervous about that tree.  It's a good thing he did because our car could have been wiped out in our own driveway.  Anyway, here are some pictures:

The first is Jessy playing with her treat toy, the second is her in the hallway of our house being nosey.  The next two are of the tree in our neighbor's yard.  The last three are of Jessy.  The first two were from her first visit and the last three are from her second visit.  The first is the lesser "devil version" of her and I on the couch.  The second and third are her posing "innocently" in our kitchen.

Sorry we don't have any pictures of Grammy's birthday party.  The humans went out to eat for her birthday while Kaci and I were home.  Enjoy the pictures, everyone.

Jessy is visiting us for a few days

Hi everyone -

Jessy's parents went away for Valentine's Day and she is staying with us again.  She has gotten a lot better but she has way too much energy for me (Hershey).  It is hard to be the more mature dog in this scenario.  In the meantime, here is a photo of Jessy and I.  Mama says that we both look possessed.  Here is the photo.  If this photo is a little blurry we apologize.  This was taken from Papa's cell phone.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

Today is my birthday

Hi everyone -

Today is my birthday.  I am seven years old.  So far my birthday has been great - I got a bag of treats and a huge treat from the recycling crew.  I also got a monkey toy that squeaks.  I love toys that squeak.  A lot of my pup pals from Dogster have given me treats and I am also honored in the Princess Divas and Prince Charmings group as the Royal Member of the Day.  This is the plaque that was made in my honor:

We also have a new member in our family.  My "aunt" and "uncle" have a new puppy.  Her name is Jessy and she stayed with us for a week last month.  She is a big puppy - part labrador retriever, part german haired pointer and there is possibly some English Setter too.  She looks mostly like a labrador.  We have some pictures that we need to download to the computer.  When that is done, we will post some of them.

Kaci and I spent Christmas together

Hi, everyone -

Mama, Papa, Kaci, Grammy and I spent Christmas together.  We drove up to New Hampshire last weekend (Dec. 22nd) and spent three full days together.  We even had a white Christmas while we were visiting everyone.  We came back to Connecticut the day after Christmas and just beat the snowstorm that day.  We did not get much - only about an inch but enough to make driving difficult.

Mama also took pictures of us together but we need to download them - they are still in the camera.  However, here are a few pictures you can enjoy until then.

The first is a Christmas puzzle which is part of a kit.  There are cookie cutters, recipe for cookies and a story that is related to the puzzle.  The remaining three are our hanging plants.  These pictures were taken in November and are still alive today.  The last is Hershey doing one of her favorite pastimes, looking out the window.  Enjoy the pictures, everyone.

Mama is getting into the Christmas spirit

Hi, everyone -

Mama is really getting into the Christmas spirit this year.  This has been a hard year for a lot of people even us.  Our family lost three relatives in the space of six months. Add that to the fact that so many people have lost their jobs and are now one income families.  Mama won't be sad when 2012 comes to a close.

A friend of Mama's found these videos on You Tube and wanted to share them with you all.  You may have seen these before.

Here is the list:

Also Mama is in the process of putting together a Christmas puzzle.  She is about a quarter of the way done. When she finishes, she will post pictures.

Enjoy these videos, everyone!
